You're invited to attend a special workshop to launch the 3rd annual UsuryFree Week
The Third Annual UsuryFree Week kicks off on UsuryFree Day, Tuesday, November 13th, 2007 and ends on Monday, November 19th, 2007. This marks the third anniversary of the launch of Tamworth Hours - a usuryfree time currency in a rural community of eastern Ontario and celebrates the launch of the BIS (Be InSerenity) Network with the usuryfree paper notes of community currency called Serenity.
As we prepare to celebrate this Third Annual UsuryFree Week, the active usuryfree creatives have chosen to again honour the word 'emancipation' as it is a noun meaning the act of releasing or setting free from economic, social, political, legal, intellectual or moral slavery and restraint that is being inposed upon us by the PTB's (Powers That Be).
The selfish agenda of the PTB's has been exposed as being one to financially and/or otherwise disempower us and enslave us to their New World Order with a life of limited experiences. Their agenda seeks to coerce us into accepting their plans for continued wars, violence, poverty, scarcity and lack. Our time is NOW to say NO to their New World Order while emancipating ourselves and creating our own model for usuryfree living.
Key Note Speaker:
The UsuryFree Network is honoured that Peter Jon Simpson from Atwater, Minnesota is their key note guest speaker. Tom Kennedy had the honour of connecting with Peter Jon Simpson in the mid-1980's when he was researching 'usury.' In the mid-1980's Peter authored 2 books: 'Avoid Bank Holidays' and 'Life Without Usury'. As well during the 1980's Peter created some noteworthy audio cassettes on issues related to money and banking. In summary, Peter Jon Simpson has been one of Tom's pioneering mentors whose research has helped him understand just how the design flaw of usury is the evil function on our orthodox money system that is directly and/or indirectly responsible for violence, wars, poverty, scarcity and lack.
In an email to Tom, Peter wrote: "I'll be covering the various implications of Usury/Interest when I speak to you folks on November 13th, in Canada. Thinkers going back to Aristotle condemned it, for it creates a contract that is mathematically impossible to fulfill in the real world."
Topics to be addressed will be selected from this list: (a) why celebrate UsuryFree Day & UsuryFree Week (b) comparing usury-based orthodox economics and innovative usuryfree economics (c) creating and spending our own usuryfree community currencies (d) unique strategies to evade usury and avoid taxes (e) the awakening in rural and urban Ontario (f) private member-supported organizations, clubs and networks.
What's the Cost of Admission??
Attendees are invited to pay-what-they-think-it-is-worth to be present and learn from those who are making the presentations. Cash, cheques, money orders and any usuryfree community currency accepted.
The expenses to be covered are: (a) a gift to Conspiracy Culture for offering to share the space for the meeting (b) advertising (c) gifts or donations to the guest speaker to cover his travel expenses and his time investment for any preparation and the presentation.
Obviously, the advertising costs and the travel costs of the speaker will require federal cash.
Attendees are encouraged to be generous with 'gifts' or 'donations' so that this workshop model can be copied or duplicated in any community in Ontario or elsewhere.

Noteworthy Quotes:
"Interest never sleeps nor sickens nor dies; it never goes to the hospital; it works on Sundays and holidays; it never takes a vacation; it never visits nor travels; it takes no pleasure; it is never laid off work nor discharged from employment; it never works on reduced hours; it never has short crops nor droughts; it never pays taxes; it buys no food; it wears no clothes; it is un-housed and without home and so has no repairs, no replacements, no shingling, plumbing, painting, or whitewashing; it has neither wife, children, father, mother, nor kinfolk to watch over and care for; it has no expense of living; it has neither weddings nor births nor deaths; it has no love, no sympathy; it is as hard and soulless as a granite cliff. Once in debt, interest is your companion every minute of the day and night; you cannot shun it or slip away from it; you cannot dismiss it; it yields neither to entreaties, demands, or orders; and whenever you get in its way or cross its course or fail to meet its demands, it crushes you."
- J. Reuben Clarks classic statement on interest -- April, 1938.
"He who takes usury for a loan of money acts unjustly for he sells what does not exist."
- Aristotle
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and born in sin ... Bankers own the earth. Take it away from them but leave them the power to create money and, with the flick of a pen, they will create enough money to buy it back again.... Take this power away from them and all great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for then this would be a better and happier world to live in... if you want to continue to be slaves of the Bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, then let the Bankers continue to create money and control credit."
- Sir Josiah Stamp, former President of the Bank of England
"I am now convinced that if we as a people can abolish usury from our society as our forbearers did in Europe seven hundred years ago, we will leave our children and grandchildren a circumstance where they will be able to make a society that is prosperous and just, peaceful and plentiful. If we cannot as a people banish usury from our nation, we will condemn our children and grandchildren to a world of poverty and tyranny. It will be one hell of a fight where as Salomon P. Chase said: 'The people will be arrayed on one side, and the banks on the other, in a contest such as we have never before seen in this country.' Our children's future depends upon out taking up this challenge and winning. I believe that fight must originate as the American Revolution 220 years ago, in our churches. We may have to educate and train our churchmen at first. This fight must be staged and it must be won. As General George Patton said: 'We will go forward and meet the enemy and be victorious or let no man come back alive.'"
- Peter Jon Simpson, 1988
