2. an exorbitant amount or rate of interest, esp. in excess of the legal rate.
3. Obsolete. interest paid for the use of money.



Guest Speakers: The UsuryFree Network in co-operation with The Family Life Foundation is honoured that Peter Jon Simpson from Atwater, Minnesota and John "King of the Paupers" Turmel from Brantford, Ontario will be the guest speakers at this years event.

Over the years, many researchers have had the honor of having both Peter Jon Simpson AND John Turmel as their pioneering mentors in the ongoing and never-ending research on our orthodox, economic system of usury-based, debt money.

At a previous UsuryFree meeting, these two guests were referred to as "the two most dangerous men on the seminar circuit" - simply because they dare to expose the lies, deceit and deception that surrounds the topic of 'money' in general and about 'usury' in particular. Additionally, they both promote the usuryfree community currency movement as a key element of the shifting, economic paradigm.


Topics to be addressed will be selected from this list:
- why celebrate UsuryFree Day & UsuryFree Week
- comparing usury-based orthodox economics & usuryfree economic alternatives
- creating and spending our own usuryfree community currencies
- unique strategies to evade usury and avoid taxes - such as political 'tax credits'
- the awakening being initiated by 'Occupy Wall Street'
- private member-supported organizations, clubs and networks
- creative ways to use the tools offered to us by their system


Q&A: There will be about 20 minutes set aside for questions and answers.


Winged Lion Awards: The Winged Lion Awards are in honor of the 'Winged Lion' - which is the historical symbol of usuryfree money. The Winged Lion Awards are presented to the winners from the nominated usuryfree creatives on behalf of The UsuryFree Network during the Annual UsuryFree Week scheduled from November 13th thru November 19th each year. Nominations are commonly accepted from local, national and international usuryfree creatives. The deadline for submitting nominations for Winged Lion Awards is Monday, November 7th, 2011. The Winged Lion Awards for 2011 will be presented by Tom J. Kennedy.


The Seventh Annual UsuryFree Day & Week

All of you who visit here and read this are invited to spread this information about the 7th Annual UsuryFree Day/Week throughout the world by 'word of mouth' and 'word of mouse.'

Founded on May 13th, 2001, The UsuryFree Network (Tamworth, Ontario) designated November 13th 2005 as the first annual UsuryFree Day to promote awareness about the design flaw of 'usury' and how 'usury' is directly and/or indirectly related to violence, war, poverty, scarcity and lack.

In addition, and perhaps more importantly, the aim of UsuryFree Day is to promote the community currency movement as the optimal method of trading products and/or services locally, nationally and internationally.

It is resolved that in the not-too-distant future, everyday must become a UsuryFree Day so that everyone can experience the reality of usuryfree living. UsuryFree Day and Week remind us that we can replace usury with a simple service charge and thereby create peace, abundance and prosperity for all. Additionally, it is resolved that the concept of dividend earnings in co-operation with entrepreneurs be advocated as an alternative to those investors who are currently relying on usury earnings on bank deposits.

Wherever you live, you are invited to make tentative plans now to celebrate The Seventh Annual UsuryFree Day and Week in your community. What's the Cost of Admission?

Attendees are invited to pay-what-they-think-it's-worth to be present and learn from those who are making the presentations. Cash, cheques, money orders and any usuryfree community currency is gracefully accepted.

The expenses to be covered are:
a) gifts or donations for the guest speakers to help cover their travel expenses and time invested for any preparation, and the presentation itself
b) advertising and promotional materials

Obviously, the advertising costs and the travel costs of the speaker will require federal cash. Attendees are encouraged to be generous with 'gifts' or 'donations' so that this workshop model can be copied or duplicated in any community in Ontario or elsewhere.
