Left of the Dial
Left of the Dial tells the inside story of the turbulent birth of Air America Radio, the nation's first liberal talk network. Launched in March 2004 and spearheaded by Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo, the network attempted to go head-to-head against the conservative voices that dominate American talk radio during one of the most devisive election years in recent memory.
Less than a month after its launch, the network began to implode amid allegations of financial impropriety and mismanagement.
In December 2004, a new round of investors brings Air America a measure of financial stability. With 40 affiliates and counting, the voices of the left are now being heard, loud and clear, from coast to coast.
